DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) _ A Dickinson man accused of trying to kill his girlfriend is headed to trial next month.
Prosecutor Rhonda Ehlis says Matthew Foxworthy rejected a plea offer from the state, and a five-day trial has been scheduled to begin July 17.
Foxworthy is accused of choking his girlfriend until she passed out a year ago. He's also accused of knocking out some of the woman's teeth and breaking some of her facial bones. Ehlis says the woman is scheduled to have her last surgery the week after the trial is scheduled to end.
Foxworthy could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of attempted murder. He also faces charges of aggravated assault and fleeing.
